Once you reach such a level, affecting the superstructure becomes essentially free. The marginal cost of goading the cattle into believe this idiocy instead of that stupidity is zero. Actually, scratch that. Mucking with the superstructure is exactly how they make a profit, either with something rather trivial like a new assembly-line k-pop band, or generally foisting a soul-sucking culture of entrepreneurship. Theoretically, there's nothing saying that disinformation, misinformation or just plain useless information has any more or less market worth than useful information, but we all know how that goes. My mobile was set to automanage timezones, and switched to daylight savings time by itself. Which doesn't exist anymore, as per presidential decree, so I woke up one hour earlier than needed. I'm not sure why he even bothered with it. Among the many, many inane or monstrous causes he took up over the decades, DST being a communist plot wasn't among them, to the best of my knowledge. My only guess is that he did it simply so he could say he did something. And I do actually mean this without sarcasm. The only explanation I can think of for nixing DST is to entertain the circus audience and claim "another" "promise" was "fulfilled".
